What it is

Written for one person

A daily walk through the Word, written for one person. Tell us about your life and what you're carrying, and we write your 31 days through the book you choose around your answers. It opens in your browser, saves your journaling and progress, and meets you whether you're new to faith or years in. Your name goes on the cover, and you can add a spiral-bound copy if you want one to hold.

Choose your book

Start with a book that meets you

Nine of the Bible's most-loved books, one for every season. Take the quiz and we'll recommend the one that meets yours; each becomes a personalized guided Scripture study built around your life.

A chapter a day · 31 days

Proverbs

Practical wisdom for daily life. Short, direct sayings about money, work, your words, friendship, and self-control, rooted in the fear of the Lord.

31-day set

Psalms

The Bible's prayer and worship book. Songs of praise, lament, thanks, and trust that give words to whatever you bring to God. We shape the best-known psalms into 31 days.

31 days

Ecclesiastes

An honest look at what makes life meaningful. It sits with work, time, pleasure, and purpose, and settles on reverence for God. We shape its themes into 31 days.

One story · 31 days

The Four Gospels

The life of Jesus from birth to resurrection, woven from Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John into one 31-day walk through what He said, did, and finished for you.

For trials · 31 days

James

Faith with its sleeves rolled up. Money, words, patience, and prayer from the Lord's own brother, for seasons when believing has to work on an ordinary Monday.

For starting over · 31 days

Ruth

For loss and beginning again. Naomi comes home empty, and God quietly refills a life through loyalty, barley fields, and a Redeemer who finishes what He starts.

For joy in hard places · 31 days

Philippians

Paul writes from prison about contentment, peace that stands guard, and a joy that does not wait for better news. For heavy seasons that need more than optimism.

For grief · 31 days

Job & Lamentations

For sorrow without answers. The Bible's two great books of grief give your pain words and walk you gently toward the God who answers with Himself.

For courage · 31 days

Esther

A hidden God moves through an orphan queen's brave yes. For seasons of identity, purpose, and a moment that arrives for such a time as this.

Why we wait

The hardest part is starting

Most of us don't decide against the good thing. We just never quite begin it. Here's what the research shows, and why it's true of the Bible too.

You don't decide not to. You just don't start.

Starting is the hardest moment of any task. Once you begin, momentum carries you. The gap between wanting to and beginning is where most good intentions quietly stall.

1 in 5 adults, a chronic procrastinator

Putting things off is more common than ever

In the 1970s about 1 in 20 adults said they chronically procrastinated. Today it's roughly 1 in 5. Researchers tie the rise to a world built to distract us, where an easy "now" is always one tap closer than a meaningful "later."

Piers Steel & Joseph Ferrari, procrastination research (University of Calgary; DePaul University).

~800 studies, one clear pattern

We avoid what feels big, unclear, or joyless

A review of nearly 800 studies found we delay most when a task feels unpleasant, vague, or far away, and when something easier sits within reach. It isn't laziness. It's how attention works.

Piers Steel, "The Nature of Procrastination," Psychological Bulletin (2007).

39% of Americans open it even 3× a year

The same thing happens with the Bible

Only 39% of Americans use the Bible three or more times a year, the lowest figure on record. For most, it isn't that they doubt it matters. It's that they never quite start.

American Bible Society, State of the Bible 2023.

#1 reason given: "too busy"

The reason usually isn't doubt

When researchers asked people what kept them from reading Scripture, the most common answer wasn't skepticism. It was a full life and a blank starting line, not knowing where to begin.

a week is the tipping point

Four times a week changes everything

Across more than 100,000 people studied over eight years, reading the Bible four or more days a week was the point where real change showed up: loneliness and anger dropped sharply. One to three times a week barely moved the needle.

Center for Bible Engagement, "the Power of 4."

So we took away the hardest part

A book built around your life, one page a day, with the reading, a prayer, and a small step already laid out for you. No blank page to face. Just open to today and begin.

Devotional — written for Grace

Grace, wisdom doesn't start with having it all figured out. It starts with reverence — taking God seriously in the young-kids season, in the worry that everything depends on you. Verse 7 is an invitation: begin here, with Him, and the rest clears one day at a time.

Reflect
1. What is the difference, in your own words, between being smart and being wise?
Smart is knowing a lot. Wise is knowing what to do with it — and trusting God with the rest.
Prayer
Father, You say wisdom begins with You, so that is where I am beginning this month. Anxiety tells me everything depends on me. Remind me, as many times as it takes today, that it depends on You. I mean it this time — take it. Amen.
